R-Base Trading Journal — Notion Template for Futures Traders

Most traders don't have a strategy problem. They have an execution problem, and no way to measure it.

R-Base is a Notion trading journal that separates the two. Every trade is measured against the risk you planned — not the dollars you made — so you can see which of your setups actually pay, and how much of your result is being decided by repeated mistakes rather than by the market.

What it measures

• Expectancy in R — position sizing stripped out, so a month on one contract compares directly to a month on five.
• Strategy vs execution — average R when you followed your plan, against average R when you didn't. A wide gap means your strategy is fine and your habits are costing you.
• Cost per mistake — nine tags totalled in R. Chasing, moving stops, cutting early, revenge entries. Each felt survivable. The sum usually doesn't.
• Which setups pay — average R per named strategy, on a board.
• When you're sharp — session stamped automatically from the trade's timestamp.

The workflow

It does not import your trades. You enter them by hand — nothing built in Notion can do otherwise. The fields that carry the insight are ones no broker export contains anyway: which setup you intended, whether you followed your plan, how you felt at entry.

It ships configured for futures — MNQ, MES, MGC, NQ, ES, GC. Everything is editable and R works identically for stocks, forex or crypto.

It will not make you profitable. A journal can't manufacture an edge you don't have. What it does is show you where the one you have is leaking.
